Vlisco Museum Show

Bloom collection, 2014, by Vlisco.

Since April 30, 2016 the Philadelphia Museum of Art is dedicating an exhibition to Vlisco, the most influential textile brand in West and Central Africa. Through the history of the Dutch Company, founded in 1846, we discover how the wax printed textiles, while originally designed and manufactured in Europe (and then in Asia), became culturally assimilated with African society.
Part of Creative Africa, a series of events  dedicated to art and design from the continent, this exhibition also provides the opportunity to explore Vlisco’s emblematic patterns, and to follow the creative process of launching a new textile.
